Lion's Paw, Sunset Beach, North Carolina
Bent
grass greens and Penn Cross Fairways, which cut through Carolina
pines and hardwoods, are featured on 36 holes of outstanding golf.
Lion's Paw has routinely been called Willard Byrd's finest work.
With generous landing areas and well-placed bunkers this is a true
test of golf. Panther's Run, a Tim Cate design, winds its way along
the edge of a nature preserve with dramatic elevation changes. Golfers
must stay out of -- or carry -- the surrounding marshland and stay
in the wide fairways that twist and turn to create a visually interesting
course.
