Port Royal - Barony, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina
While the holes are relatively open off the tee, Barony's greatest
challenge is presented around its small greens, which are heavily
protected by deep bunkers, lagoons and Bermuda rough. This is a
course where accuracy, not length, is paramount, and a deft touch
is required with medium and short irons. The back nine offers a
fine mix of long holes (the 428-yard, par four 12th plays directly
into the ocean breeze) and short holes (the 480-yard, par five 15th
can be easily reached with two solid shots). All in all, this is
a very enjoyable course for all skill levels
