Florida Golf Schools

Make your next golf vacation your best-- enroll in a golf school! We can integrate golf instruction into your golf package and help you take home more than a good tan from your trip. We recommend the following Florida golf schools:

Timacuan Golf Academy, Lake Mary, Florida

1-888-247-5254

Bring your game to a higher level with instruction from the Timacuan Golf Academy. Personally headed up by Mike Bender - one of America's top 25 instructors - the schools range from one to three days with two to four hours of instruction each morning and a chance to play area courses each afternoon. Mike's ingenious techniques and no-nonsense approach will finally allow you to understand your swing and lower your scores. Located just north of Orlando, the Timacuan Golf Academy also offers accommodations and car rental.

Mike Bender, Director of Instruction
Mike attended California State College at Stanislaus in northern California where he had an accomplished college career. While at Stanislaus he was a three-time All American and won two individual NCAA Division III National Championships. In 1980, Mike turned professional and began competing on a full-time basis. His competitive career is highlighted by a three-year stint on the PGA Tour from 1987-1990. He began teaching full time in 1991 and has quickly gained recognition as one of the top teachers in the country. Some of Mike's accomplishments include:

  • Listed by Golf Magazine as one of the Top 100 Instructors in America
  • Listed by Golf Digest as #25 among America's 50 Greatest Teachers
  • 1996 and 1998 North Florida PGA Teacher of the Year
  • 1994, 1996, 1998, and 2001 East Central Florida Chapter Teacher of the Year
  • Several appearances on The Golf Channel
  • Many articles published in Golf Magazine

Steve Marr, Head Instructor
Steve comes to the Timacuan Golf Academy from England where he turned professional in 1975. Since that time he has developed an impressive list of playing and teaching credentials. While playing on the European Tour for several years, Steve was influenced by such noted teachers as Sir Henry Cotton, John Jacobs and Syd Collins. Steve learned all he could from these great golf minds and upon leaving the Tour quickly turned his talents toward teaching. A number of world-class professionals such as Ian Woosnam, Peter Baker, and Andrew Murray have all worked with Steve. In addition, noted amateur players Darren Prosser, Michael Welch, Carl Watts, Jonathan Bromley, and Steve Weir can also attribute their success to Steve's tutelage. Steve's accomplishments include:

  • 1975 Lancashire and Cheshire Assistants Champion
  • 1978 European Tour Card Holder
  • 1981 Manchester Stroke Play Champion
  • 1985 Shropshire Preofessional Champion
  • 1989 Winner of Five Shropshire PGA Events
  • 1992 British Forces Tournament Champion
  • 1996 to 2000 Head Professional at Shropshire Country Club

PGA Learning Center, Port St. Lucie, Florida

1-888-248-2749

The gateway to great golf can be found through the portals leading to the PGA Learning Center, in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Here you will find a breathtaking 35-acre golf park created by the teachers of the game, The Professional Golfer's Association of America.

The first such facility of its kind -- with daily access and multiple day schools -- The PGA Learning Center has been thoughtfully designed to enhance each student's skill, performance, and enjoyment. Whether you are a beginner or a pro, your game will benefit from the extensive facilities that actually recreate course scenarios with hundreds of practice stations, a short game scoring area, 18-hole putting course, high-tech golf test center, green-side bunker area, an uneven lie practice area, and three dynamic practice holes designed specifically to give on-course tutelage to golf school students.

Throughout the beautifully landscaped surroundings, you will find a staff of PGA Professionals who offer expert golf instruction and golf schools. In addition to the areas created for daily access, PGA Learning Center students will learn in private areas in schools that range one to three days. Multiple day students will also receive a PGA Player Evaluation Analysis Kit (PGA Peak) for communication and continuation of suggested lesson plans.
