World Woods - Pine Barrens, Homosassa, Florida
This
dynamic golf club features two Tom Fazio-designed masterpieces.
Pine Barrens is highly ranked by Golf Digest and has received numerous
accolades such as "Florida's Pine Valley" and the "best
new course in Florida." This tight intimidating layout, with
its large amount of pine trees and barren waste areas, is reminiscent
of North Carolina terrain. Likened to Augusta National, Rolling
Oaks offers a brilliant sequence of holes framed by giant moss-draped
oaks, dogwoods, magnolias, exposed limestone, and cavernous bunkers.
Both courses are excellent examples of Fazio's special architectural
talent and are among the very best Florida has to offer.

Jack W. Armstrong says:
Every time I book a golf package in Orlando I drive 1.5 hours
to World Woods. This, and its partner course, Rolling Oaks,
are the best public access golf courses under $100 I have ever
played. There are 20 tremendous golf courses, in my opinion
in the Orlando area, but I STILL feel compelled to drive to
World Woods. |
MARK PREDKO says:
We've gone on an Orlando golf trip each of the past three years,
and have gone to World Woods each time, even though it's not
near any major city or town. During the ride, we may forget
why we're driving so far to play golf with the plethora of courses
in Orlando. But as soon as we tee off on Pine Barrens, we remember.
It really seems to be in complete harmony with nature, and none
of the holes seem contrived. Lots of trees, lush greenery and
beatiful waste bunkers (is that an oxymoron) make it the most
visually appealing course I've played. Yet the course is very
fair, and the greens are in superb shape. As you can tell, one
of my favorites. |
Mark Saltzman says:
Great Course!!! one hour from downtown Tampa, one and a half
from orlando. reminds me of the course pine valley...there are
many waste bunkers and large elevation changes...great bargain
at only $70. I rate it 9/10!! |
Don Bernier SAYS...
On a golfing vacation from New Hampshire. Played the Jacksonville
& Palm Coast courses and this year Tampa area courses. In
the seven years we've been traveling (Myrtle Beach & Florida
east coast) Pine Barrens is truly an outstanding course. No
homes to spoil the great picturesque holes. We will be coming
back to the Tampa area again next year and for the first time
in seven years we have choosen to play a course for the second
time and Pine Barrens gets that honor. If you are in the Tampa
or Orlando area it is a MUST play. The drive is worth it!!!
