Diamondback, Haines City, Florida
6501
SR 544 East, Haines City,
Florida 33844
Opened in 1995, this is another of Joe Lee's great Florida layouts,
located directly across the street from Grenelefe Resort in Haines
City, about 40 minutes west of Orlando's International Drive. The
course was carved from 240 acres of virgin forest and offers dramatically
rolling fairways bordered by dense trees, pristine natural wetlands,
and well-positioned water hazards. Diamondback is situated in a
non-residential environment, which is unique to the Central Florida
area and creates a very peaceful round of golf. Always in excellent
condition, this course has been rated four stars by Golf Digest's
"Places to Play."

Mark Stahlka says:
A must play in Orlando area, this will challenge anyone, bring
a few extra balls with you. |
Jack Armstrong says:
Peaceful surroundings, no homes. Most holes secluded from the
other. Excellent condition, a great bargain. One of the best
on the South Side of Orlando. |
robert brown says:
best florida course i have played great staff and layout the
best. also best cheeseburgers and hot dogs around |
R.PERRY says:
Played on March 17th.Best of the courses for the whole week. The
only problem is the staff handling the golf carts. They rush
up to you as soon as you get there and rush you as soon as you
finnish. How bad do they need a tip. |
Leo K. says:
I liked the layout of the course. You could cut some corners
off of the doglegs to give yourself an easier shot but, don't
try to cut off too much. Once you're in the woods there is not
much chance of a recovery. The first couple of greens were quite
thin and needed some work, although they rolled true and fast.

Ed McGuire says:
This course is very tight. Lots of hazards and trees. The greens
are cut short and lightning fast. You better have some backspin
on the ball to hold the greens. It's a good challenge. |
JOHN LENNON says:
This is a perennial favorite of our group and it didn't disapoint
this year. One of the best conditioned courese in the area from
tee to green. The extra drive is worth the time. |
Patrick Wellington SAYS...
Our foursome from Michigan played here 3/9/03. This was our
fourth year playing Florida courses in March. We had high expectations
reading reviews before playing Diamondback. This rated 3rd best
on my list behind Mission Inn (el campion course) and Southern
Dunes. The course was in great condition with many interesting
holes but I felt slightly let down by the service,(beverage
cart showed up on #8 just before the turn and not again until
# 16). Maybe this is a petty complaint but when its hot, and
you need a refresher it shouldn't be just before the end of
each 9. The course was a real challenge with some tight and
unique holes through some beautiful forest. I would rate the
course a 7 out of 10 based on cost, service, and layout. Play
it if you have the chance. |
Scott Z. SAYS...
Played this course in mid-May and, despite the greens having
been aerified the week before(yes,we were advised when we called),found
this to be a fun course.Good value. |
kelly SAYS...
played 10/3/03, and this became one of my orlando favorites.
will play again next trip. |
Grayston Nixon SAYS...
Played the first round with caution & respect for the course,
the second round we planned to rip it up - the course ripped
us up! Will play this course every year on our golf vacation
