Deer
Island Club is the centerpiece of a remote 400-acre island that
separates Lake Dora and Lake Beauclaire. The shoreline is rimmed
with ancient oaks, pines, and palms with views of quaint Mt. Dora
in the background. Although water borders all 18 holes, the course
is eminently fair and will not penalize a good shot. Architect Joe
Lee calls Deer Island the "most unique course I've ever designed."
An excellent value, this course is worth the drive to Mt. Dora,
40 minutes northwest of Orlando.

Course Reviews
Neil Harden says:
Great value for the money. An excellent test of golf. Par 3's
are the most challenging with 3 of the 4 requiring mid to long
irons with forced carries over water. Lots of water and sand,
but fair landing areas. Don't have to be a long hitter to score
well.
Ed McGuire says:
Excellent course. The water will get you eventually, bring some
balls. Played in Feb 2001. Water level low at the time. Normal
height water would make this course very tough and require accuracy
with the mid to long irons. Lots of wildlife.
Ginko says:
Very unique course with plenty of trouble lurking. Very fair
$. Has gone somewhat down hill in the past few years in the
overall course conditioning. A definate must though play for
locals. At least once.....
